Coconut Creek is a carefully planned city of about 61,000 residents set between Miami and Palm Beach, with an environmental streak that runs through its planning decisions. The city's MainStreet district — home to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and the 23-acre open-air Coconut Creek Promenade — earned an Award of Excellence for its design standards from the Florida chapter of the American Planning Association. When finished, MainStreet will span over 250 acres of LEED-certified business space, housing, and landscaped greenways.
